Similar ideas have been brought up before and neglected . I suspect people didn't like them mostly because they had the impression they maybe should be excluded from certain topics ( like : we want a forum for chessprogrammers _only_ ;-) ) . But in the meantime CCC has become barely readable IMHO . My two main critics : a.) I can't follow the threads that do interest me as they vanish too fast . b.) I can't manage to find them or sometimes am just too lazy to search the masses. I have changed the default filter to 3 days to not miss the topics I want to follow but then CCC becomes very slow . I think the "Chess Thinker's" forum was a good idea to offer a place for people who are interested in OT-posts and chess posts ( without computers) . It seems to work reasonably well . Your voting suggestion is too complicated I think - more forums would be nicer . A suggestion : I. The "Who is Best" forum This one could take all kind of autoplayer matches , rating lists , SSDF talks , etc. II. The "Politics" forum All kinds of talk about the "evil empire" , Deep Blue , "Are computers _really_ GMs ?" III. The "Testposition", "Testset" forum Self-explanatory . IV. The "Chessmaster Settings" forum Again. V. The "Programming" forum Again. VI. The CCC forum itself Hmm - what would be left here then ;) ? At least it would be easier to follow :-)) Cheers. pete
