Although nothing more advanced than alpha-beta is covered, hopefully the concepts are fairly clear and will enable understanding of some of the more tricky stuff which is available around the Net. The notes were written to assist entrants in a checkers-programming contest last year, and have been updated for chess. Cheers Adam
