They required an author a year ago. I couldn't go and didn't try to find someone to go for me since the rules were very clear. They were changed at the last minute. Now we have SMP vs no SMP. Had I taken the time to finish arranging for a good alpha (single-cpu) machine (I had talked to Compaq about this) it would have not been worthwhile since now SMP machines are allowed. Someone isn't thinking when the rules change that late into things. Rules should be fixed for a _YEAR_. As they have in the past at ACM events...
