Perhaps it would be possible to organise an online event a la CCT-3, with people agreeing to run on single-processor hardware, concurrently with WMCCC. It doesn't have to be an "official title" deal (although ICC might prefer it to be) but the message would be loud and clear if the peers of the computer-chess realm are absent at WMCCC but present and active at a "true" micro tournament.
