Have the chess contests first run by country: {country contestants meet first} Top two from each country go to continent contest: European North American South American African {Are there any programs from this continent?} Asian {Include Russia and the middle east, or maybe put Russia into Europe?} Austrailan {And New Zealand} Continent winner goes to world contest I think it might be nice because geographic demarcations tend to spur interest. Since the contests would initially be local, travel would not be as difficult. If travel were impossible/highly impractical, it might be possible to have games played via the internet, as supervised by some university staff when the games are performed. Since there would only be 6 continental winners (where the travel is very expensive and it would not be sensible to play over the internet) perhaps they could have their plane tickets paid for by a sponsoring organization. With only 6 engines in the finals, it would not take an absurd amount of time to complete it.
