Israel, France and the US could probably give them a pretty good run for the money. Pepito is actually pretty strong. It could eventually become a bone-crusher, I think (if the programmer decided to put the effort into it). One reason I realy like this format is the same reason that I can't stand the "National Champion" bowl format. Lots of people go home a winner. You can be country champion. You can be continental champion. You can be world champion. You could potentially have well over 200 country champions. Sounds far-fetched, but there are already over 100 Winboard programs and the list grows daily. I do have to admit that Germany and Holland are the chess programming hub of the universe. I think having national and continental [along with world] championships could potentially attract sponsors. Wouldn't it be nice to fly for free and stay in a posh hotel without having to pay for it?
