I played Board 1 on my chess team at primary school; it was a small school (300 kids) in a small town. I guess I was about 9 or 10 years old. I was much better than anybody else in our team, I had even improved to the point where I could beat our coach. I had this idea in my head that I was probably just short of grandmaster level, but hey, if Kasparov gave me pawn and move he'd be in trouble! On one occasion, I even gave a simul against our whole team + the coach, winning all the games... such affectation. So I went to the tournament, which was a national tournament, and I didn't win - or even draw - a single game. I remember the acute bitterness which attended this result as if it were yesterday - but if poor little Blikskottel has to represent Africa, I guess I'll soon taste it again :-/ -Adam
