Simply not true.

To keep your example: The said "a long distance is going to be run" and ONE AND
A HALF MONTH BEFORE they stated it's going to be a 20.000 metres.

Of course you can ignore that and two and a half weeks before the event start
claiming they chanced it suddenly.
