I'm a UNIX guy too :) Robofics is a comandline interface only, while xboard/zippy requier displaying the board on a x-server. The way I interpeded the original poster, he wanted to start something at his ISP (most likely running some UNIX) and not stay connected, but rather have the program running after he logs out.
