Black's 79th move was a capture. Both sides need to make 50 moves without capture or pawn move before a draw may be claimed. So if we change the 50-move rule to a 1-move rule, white cannot play 1. Nf3 and claim a draw, although after 1. Nf3, black could claim a draw after 1. ... Nf6. Back to the game. The game ended when black mated on its 129th move. Prior to black's 129th move, white had made 50 moves, it is true, but black had only made 49. So black mated on the last possible move. If he'd made a pawn move or capture on this move, the game could also have continued. This is a bug in Hiarcs 5, and in any thing else that thinks this is a draw. bruce
