If you want a stable (and RELIABLE) PC you should switch to Linux MANDRAKE 8 or RedHat 7.1 (FreeBSD is most reliable). The KDE GUI is a masterpiece compared to Windows XP crap. Best of all, Linux will only cost you 3 hours of yor time to download the images and to burn them on CD-Rs--Linux is free! Stop wasting your $10 to beta-test Microsoft products :) I do admit that for chess programs you'll need to run Windows since all the professional programs are for Windows--2000 should take care of it.
