I read somewhere on the Internet, about a month ago that Hiarcs8 WAS being worked on. There was an impressive list of improvements including: better time management, more positions per second, etc etc. I've just tried to find the article but no luck. ~~~~~~ From GambitSoft News Page: http://www.gambitsoft.com/news.htm CCT3 Turnier (26/05/2001 - 27/05/2001)! Deep Fritz, Deep Shredder, Hiarcs 8 and other strong amateur programs (SOS, Insomniac, LambChop, Patzer, Der Bringer, Yace, Diep, Crafty) will be try to beat "Ferret" in the CCT3 Internet tournament. With the program BlitzIn can you see all the games "Live". A very great computer chess event with 32 programs. Ferret by Bruce Morland (USA) and Deep Fritz by Frans Morsch (Netherland) & Mathias Feist (Germany) won this tournament. Congratulations to the winners and all other programmers for the interesting games. ~~~~~~ So there was a "alpha or beta or Xperimental" version of Hiarcs8 in May. ~~~~~~ From GambitSoft News Page: http://www.gambitsoft.com/news.htm New Junior, HIARCS and Fritz? The ChessBase plans for this year encompass these three super strong programs, or so it seems. There are rumours that Junior will come out in June, as well as a new HIARCS and Fritz. Junior will be the first one on the market, apparently. As soon as we find out something new we'll let you know! ~~~~~~ GambitSoft don't date their news items any more, but that was April or May. Anybody else got any News? Hi guys Tina Long
