Hi all, Glad I took this bug finally out. By scoring passed pawns, I don't count the rank of the pawn, but the row. Never noticed this bug before. The longer I program, the more I get amazed by the fact that XiniX has ever won any games. (Yes, even by creating passed pawns) This passed pawn stuff is actually one of the oldest code in my program. Funny thing, the score on testsuites stays about equal. Yes it solves all the endgames faster now, but it misses some tactical positions. The reason is that in some of them you have to start a king attack, by destroing the opponents pawn protection. This would create pased pawns on the kingside, only on second or third rank, but on 7th or 8th row, wich was what I was scoring in my old code. cheers, Tony
