I have a fast PC now ( mainly because of computerchess ;-) ) and what do I run on it ? WindowsME ;-) - yes , the often blamed one. It came with my PC and I couldn't find a good reason to destroy it as it works reasonably well. The speed race surprises me often when it is about computerchess performance . It's interesting to look at the additional ELO performance you get if you DOUBLE the speed of your system . Those 5-10 % which look like the absolute maximum a better OS could give look _so_ meaningless then .. pete
