Due to the Microsoft scandal, we may be entering a period of technology crisis. This could affect our computer chess business as well; it could become slow. If Microsoft splits or collapses, we could not know where to go at that time. However, I am optimistic that the period of technology crisis won't last indefinitely. Perhaps when the crisis is over, a new healthy competitive technology business would flourish again. two or more new operating systems from different new software companies would born. This would give us great opportunities to develop better chess programs running on new different operating systems. Would that be exciting? Well, I think we need a big change for better. Anyway, I envision that some author in the United States would write a book titles "The Rise and Fall of Microsoft". Eran
