Subject: Chess playing microcontroller

I'm new to this .. but is there such a thing as a dedicated chess playing
microcontroller? possibly implemented in ASIC or FPGA?

From what I can see, most chess engines use generally available microcomputers
(Eg Intel Pentium) and are programmed in a language like C.
