Below an instruction from Frank Quisinsky how to run TheKing 3.12 under CB-GUI:

WinBoard TheKing adapter by Add Gunnar Marlin:
----------------------------------------------

Only a little readme
(hope this text is enough).

For the download example ...
TheKing 3.12 under Chess-Base Fritz 6 GUI:

Copy the TheKing.exe in the CM-theking directory and rename
the engine in tk.exe
(you can used also other names for the directory and engine).

Example:
f:\CBase\Engines\CM-theking (name for directory)
f:\CBase\Engines\CM-theking.eng (Chess-Base "WinBoard-Adapter").
f:\CBase\Engines\CM-theking\tk.exe (chess program TheKing).
f:\CBase\Engines\CM-theking\cm-theking.bmp (logo for TheKing).
f:\CBase\Engines\CM-theking\cm-theking.init (config file for the WB adapter).
f:\CBase\Engines\CM-theking\cm-theking.exe (adapter by Odd Gunnar Malin).
f:\CBase\Engines\CM-theking\InBetween.ini (config file for the adapter by
                                           Odd Gunnar Malin).

If you have interest you can add TheKing personalitys in the file
InBetween.ini

Example for the Shredder 5.0 GUI in the config file for the Shredder 5.0 GUI
(*.eng file):

---
[ENGINE]
Name=TheKing 3.12
Author=Johan de Koning
Filename=f:\shredder5\wb2uci.exe

[OPTIONS]
LoadEngine=f:\shredder5\engines\theking\theking.exe
ShowStats=1
SendToEngine=cm_parm opk=xxxxxx\cm_parm tts=33554432\cm_parm opp=100 opn=100
opb=100 opr=100 opq=100\cm_parm myp=100 myn=100 myb=100 myr=100
myq=100\cm_parm cc=100 mob=100 ks=170 pp=125 pw=125\cm_parm cfd=0 sop=100
avd=-10 rnd=0 sel=10 md=9
---

cm-parm tts=33554432 for hashtable size!
33554432 = bytes
Or better ... 32Mb x 1.024 x 1.024 = 33554432 bytes

NOTE 1:
You need a OPK number!
Peter Berger wrote in WinBoard Forum about the OPK number:

a. You have to be a legal owner of Chessmaster8000 - else : forget it.
b. Every day Chessmaster creates a magic OPK number to send to "The King"
   so your engine settings for "The King" has to be changed daily.
c. Save your "TheKing.exe" so "TheKing.save"
d. Copy a crafty or other WinBoard engine which writes decent logfiles to
   the Chessmaster 8000 folder and call it "TheKing.exe"
e Start Chessmaster8000 and start a game against a Chessmaster personality
   now.
f. Have a look at the logfile: you'll see exactly what Chessmaster sends
   - most important is the OPK-number.

NOTE 2:
a. TheKing is a program from Johan de Koning and commercial available with
   the Chessmaster 8000 GUI.

   http://www.ubisoft.com/games/gameinfo.php?id=79
b. The adaper is from Add Gunnar Malin.
c. The logos from Wilhelm Hudetz.
d. You can used also BMP files for the Fritz 6 GUI, very nice are the BMP
   files in Chessmaster 8000 Wallpaper directory.
e. In the Chessmaster 8000 1.02 update file is a TheKing 3.12c version
   available.
   I add with the permission from John Merlino (Chessmaster 8000 team).
   the cm8_102.zip update file in my News Ticker.

f. WinBoard is a free graphical user interface by Tim Mann.

g. The Chess-Base WinBoard adapter is available on my webpage
   (with the permission from Mathias Feist, Chess-Base).

   Frank`s Chess Page, Top Downloader Page:

h. In my Top Downloader Page can be found other important adapter:
   Example: UCI to WB adapter by Roland Pfister. With this adapter
   different UCI engines works fine under WinBoard and other commercial
   chess GUIs (GUI = graphical user interface).
