I think they mean to say: "WinXP Home edition does not support SMP or multimon". I am running XP on a multimon machine right now. There's a 32-way SMP machine running XP in the lab here. Trust me, XP supports SMP and multimon. Whether the Home SKU does or not I do not know for sure... but people should not say "You can't get air conditioning on that car" when they mean "air conditioning is available as an option on that car but isn't included in the cheapest package."
