Hmm. If it's that important to you, why not find an engine with Win32 source code, contact the author and port it yourself? Chess programming is a hobby for me (and many others, I expect), and Windows 2000 fits all my requirements for enjoying this hobby: - excellent development environment (Visual Studio) - brilliant compiler which seems to be unmatched by anything on the Linux platform (Visual C++) - Good support for integration with GUI tools and chess servers Given all this, why should I port my engine to Linux? Don't get me wrong, I quite like Linux, but I also enjoy Windows. One day, perhaps, I will port my engine to Linux, but I will need a good reason first. The only reason why programmers should port _ALL_ chess engines to Linux *now* is anti-MS bigotry. - Adam
