You have Fritz, why you must buy Tiger or Shredder :-)) People which have interest to played with intereting chess programs buy the software. I try that he can created an interesting CD, like WinBoard Edition I and II. >I use them under chessbase because it is the interface that I am used to use. >The only programs that I cannot use under chessbase are my chessmaster6000 and >Rebel century 3. And important is to have a good alternative engine platform. So Chess-Assistant is great and also Chessmaster 8000, Chess Partner and Shredder 5.0. UCI is for me a very good commercial engine concept, and I hope that UCI found the way in Chess-Base GUI compare to Chess-Assistant 6.1. User have then more possibiltys and this is important. Winboard is good but commercial firms make not enough work for WinBoard. Look how bad are WB engines played with ponder under Chess-Base GUIs. This is a pity, also for all user and interesting programmers. UCI is also a good way, OK WinBoard is for me more important but a commercial chance also for amateur programmers is UCI. >If the programmers want to earn money I think it is better for them also not to >give winboard version for free. No, WinBoard must be free. Shredder fans buy the CD with UCI engines. If not please ... we have Fritz, Shredder ... >If they can earn money for giving their winboard version without giving their >UCI version then they can probably earn more from giving nothing for free. >Uri Uri, not all have a internet account. Not all persons have interest on WinBoard (to complicated). Please thinking also on this group of persons. Also this group of persons can play with amateurs as UCI engine and have fun on strong and interesting UCI engines. Best Frank
