If someone manages to get a match IBM versus human, then it'll be
Karpov no doubt, the only condition is that the chief of IBM is from
Russia, and i'm not sure whether that condition is met.

IBM would be stupid, but at the same time we realize that IBM is
very selfish too.

In fact IBM doesn't deserve to play Karpov.

First they need to beat John v/d Wiel (in his life never beaten by
any program in the Aegon tournaments, and he's having the right
style to beat a program: passive, closing the centre, and getting
good doubled pawns which programs don't see that they're well).

If it survives this, which i doubt, then Kosashvili will surely make
meat
out of it.

If you still bet on the machine, then Karpov will be the next,
and finally Anand will kick it playing simultaneously.

If you still are not convinced, then watch an international master
under the name Hawkeye at chess.lm.com

He plays usually games of 2 minutes sudden death... ...against Ferret.

If you can beat machine with 2 minutes for the whole game...
...then i know enough for the time being.

Bruce, can you give us some examples of faults that your program makes
in these games?

Vincent
