The premier >computer chess event would seem an ideal opportunity to do this. They obviously are not trying to promote it. They have no problem with fees: Amateur: US $ 100 Semi-professional: US $ 250 Professional: US $ 500 Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to the leading programs in each tournament. There will be no cash prizes. The chess competition of the Computer Olympiad will be a special event, since it is adopted by the ICCA as the 18th World Microcomputer Chess Championship (WMCC 2001). not bad, u pay all this cash and get a mediallion for your hard work Any entry received after August 7th will be subject to a penalty fee, doubling the above fees. THEN they double your fee!! AMAZING!! I think in general people should just do away with ICCA as it clearly serves the interests of a few people and NOT those involved in computer chess and programming alike, break away like GK did with FIDE, look where FIDE is now, it's a joke organization > >Frank
