Yes something is wrong. I've heard that when the learning files get too big there can be problems. I'm _not_ overclocking. In the past overclocking has lead to lockups. I'm running my cpus at their correct speed. I can't rule out hardware problems. I'll swap out my memory with different memory and see if that makes any difference, but my other chess engines seem to be running fine. Under NT 4.0 the exact error message is: The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". At this point I can click "Ok" to exit the program, or click "Cancel" to debug. When I click debug I get: 0xC0000005: Access Violation ..but then it doesn't show in the code where the error occured, which makes me wonder what is causing the problem. The error message itself seems rather strange. Haven't tried without book.bin or position.bin yet, but I'll post about the result when I do. My crafty.rc file is as follows: tbpath=d:\tb,e:\tb;f:\tb mt=2 egtb hash=48M hashp=32M cache=32M swindle on book random 1 book width 2 resign 0 ..which I believe is correct.
