The Athlon chip comes with a big heat sink and attached cooling fan, that clamps onto the socket. I hope you are running with at least this attached heat sink/fan installed - if not, you are in trouble. Adding an extra fan to your case is also probably a good idea. Note also that standard PC power supplies may not be adequate for Athlons in this speed range. http://www1.amd.com/athlon/config has a lot of info on cooling and power requirements. --Jon
