I agree. In fact, even had this been a "dead lost" line, Michel has
done an outstanding job in adjusting the book round by round, and is
certainly responsible for more wins than losses with his changes. He
was afraid (justifiably so) of Alex preparing something for the d4/Nf3/Bf4
line he had been playing with reasonable success. This is a part of the
events (the book tweaking between rounds). He has done exceptionally well
in that regard. In fact, he reminds me of me many years ago. We used to
burn the lamp all night long preparing for the next round (gower and myself)
just like Michel did.

When someone volunteers to operate crafty at these events, I basically give
them "full latitude" in how they carry out the match preparations. They
handle the book changes, etc, totally. They are free to contact me to ask
about specific preparations if they want, but it is not a requirement I give
them. Too many distractions. Too many chances to not be able to reach me at
a critical moment. If they are prepared to "go it alone" then it eases the
mental stress significantly.

I hope he has enjoyed himself. I've talked to him on the phone several times,
and he has sounded tired at times. I know the feeling. :)
