When it is about Amateur chess programming there are definitely a few very
competitive amateurs around that could have been a real challenge to even the
best professionals.

Just to mention one : Yace on Athlon 1400 with Pesce book might have been a
_tough_ contender.

And there is no doubt that Yace is an Amateur program ..
