Ed and Chris have shared a good deal on how to do computer chess programming. I don't know if they have ever said anything about time management, but I suspect that they might. In any case, computer chess is a richer place because of both of them. There are other computer chess programmers that won't even speak to the public, let alone share ideas. For the pros and sharing ideas, I think Amir and Christophe are first place. Second are Stefan Meyer-Kahlen and Ed Schröder. But if a chess programmer does not want to tell us his/her competitive secrets, you can hardly blame them for that. We benefit in other ways, even from the ones that are completely tight-lipped (such as having fun, playing chess against their engines[1]) I share your enthusiams for crafty, which is my favorite chess engine.
