In your tests 1.7Ghz P4 is hardly slower than 1.33Ghz K7,
this is very weird.

As you can read on www.aceshardware.com for diep
the speed is way more pessimistic for the P4 than
the above things.

Where did you get a 1.55Ghz Palomino by the way?

for the world champs i only could get 1 day before the tournament
a 1.2Ghz Palomino!

Speed reads about this:
  dual 1.7Ghz P4-Xeon  ==> 106k nps
  dual 1.2Ghz Palomino ==> 120k nps

That's 15% faster speed for the palomino despite half a
Ghz difference in clock.
