2001: the takeover has a name: maastricht
Hi,
the world computer "micro" chess championship is over.
it was a tough fight. everyone was fighting.
and in the end, despite all the fight, chessbase won.
They completely won all 4 titles.
The single-cpu title to chessbase engine shredder.
The multi-cpu title to chessbase engine junior.
the blitz-champion title also to chessbase engine goliath.
and finally, the amateur title went to chessbase engine gromith.
congratulations.
i doubt that other programs / companies ever get the titles back :-))

Science fiction (star trek) and reality (computerchess) met each other, and the
result is maastricht.
the big takeover has happened and i don't see that the forces are
well prepared to get the titles back.
its the year 2001.
In my odyssey2001 tournament the situation looks similar.
but still a few rounds to go :-))
the next game will be crafty 18.10 versus mchess. so 2 american chess programs
against each other.
in C_omputerC_hessC_lub it was said by sandro necci (sandro wrote opening-books
for mchess in the good old days) that marty hirsch is still alive and has just
married.
congratulations marty. i hope your wife is tolerant to computerchess
as my girlfriend is :-))
this looks good so that we wait for the next mchess for windows,
i am sure i will buy it when marty puts again a lot of knowledge into the
program. We all remember when he first published it under the name A.I.-chess,
together with Rexchess one of the first serious chess programs that have been
sold in the early time of PC-computerchess. maybe the race about computerchess
is not finished yet and the borg can be pushed back a little into their original
quadrant :-))
