Go up one level in this thread

It appears to me that being a moderator in this forum is as much a burden as it is an honour. Most people seem to prefer not to have to do it. Additionally, the quality of the moderators has a quite low effect on the overall S/N ratio in this group. We have an excellent set of moderators now and still the discussions seem to get no further than GM strength, Deep Blue sucks/rules, testposition, trolls, very knowledged people insulting each other and a lot what I would describe as 'propaganda'. For some reason the number of actual interesting technical discussions (DB yadda yadda doesn't count) is always very low. Perhaps I am in the wrong group for this, I don't know. What I do see here is that the actual level of discussion is often no better than rgcc. Which sortof defeats the purpose of this group. So, perhaps it's better to let the people who love their work get back to actually chessprogramming and let the rest flame, insult and troll at will. Perhaps it would be an improvement even. -- GCP
