But you could say the same thing about any group of people.  Why single out
Chess players and programmers as being the ones who should "be devoting our time
to solving the problems of HUMANITY".  To be honest, I'd select a group of
people who are better suited for the task.  Do you REALLY want a Chess player or
programmer solving the problems of humanity?.  Not me, they'd cause more
problems than they'd solve.  Take CCC for example... please

So what would you do in your spare time when you weren't solving the problems of
the world?  Because you can't do that 24 hours a day.  You'd probably write or
play a Chess program in your spare time.  Sort of means we've gotten nowhere.

Computer Chess and Chess is generally important because it keeps nerds off the
street where they'd just be getting the crap beat out of them anyway.  And since
there's only so much energy a bully can spend beating up Chess players, when his
time would be better spent solving the problems of humanity, Chess is there so
the bullies can get back to the more important tasks at hand.  Saving the world.
