Well you could go on and on with the problems of cars. Not only do they pollute
and suck petroleum reserves, but they kill and mame people, make an enourmous
ammoount of noise (I was hiking on the appalachian trail this summer - which
crosses under I-40 in TN. I could here the interstate from 5 miles away - at
least I didn't have to worry about any bears being nearby), fill up junkyards
and landfills, etc. etc. I guess pollution is their biggest problem when it
comes to the planet though.
Sucking the earth dry could be a salvation, but it's of the same type of
salvation as nuking the whole planet - the harder we make it for us to live
(whether we intend it or not), the easier it'll be - in the long run - for
evertything around us to live, because a human's natural tendency is to destroy
natural things - like trees and clean water - and creat unnatural things - like
nuclear warheads and chess programs.
