You check if the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and maybe 5th moves (with a reduced
search) are worse than your first move by a significant amount. You
do this before you do your normal search of those moves.

If so, remember this, and extend that move.

This works on the assumption that your move ordering is good enough
that it'll have the best move first enough of the time to be effective,
and that the remaining moves are also sorted reasonably well.
