Subject: Too much of a good thing?....

Author: Lawrence S. Tamarkin

This is an interview given from Soren Seagaard, from the excellent chess reviews
site: http://seagaard.dk/review/eng/content/index.asp where they interview
Alexander Münninghoff, the author of "Max Euwe - The Biography".

SS:
"Thank you for taking your time answering these questions, what are your plans
for the future? Are you going to write more books?"

AM:
"Yes, but I think no more about chess. I find the chess world less interesting
as there are too many tournaments and encounters, which inevitably leads to less
drama in chess. A win or a loss have less impact on the topplayer, who hops
constantly around the globe from one tournament to another. But I have other
subjects in my mind and I am sure that you, if your reading is not confined to
chess literature, will hear from me again."

Perhaps there is too many tournaments, too many top players, and too many World
Chess Champions, for some of the more helpful sponsor's and/or media, to do any
more good, because with so much of this aready, nobody really cares - Especially
in the United States? (my comments). To try to stay on the topic of computer
chess - Perhaps the match coming up between Deep Fritz & Kramnik, is happening
with just the right passage of time, (Since Deep Blue vs. Kasparov), to still be
fantastically interesting for the public (especially the Western public).
