Commercial firms can added the concept in here GUIs and x Engines works fine with a lot of interesting options. If a programmer have interest to create a free UCI GUI is this not a problem. Furthermore, Shredder 6 is comming soon. Stefan Meyer Kahlen say that he have interest to added more engine options in the GUI. Chess Assistant is compatible to UCI. It is not important that you can play under UCI GUIs, like Shredder 5 and Chess Assistant played with all WinBoard engines. UCI have more interesting possibilitys compare to WinBoard and is easy to add an Engine in this GUI. WinBoard is important but not all persons have an internet accout for download all this engines and have problems with WinBoard. So UCI is important for this group of persons, for the group of Chess-Assistant and Shredder fans and I believe also for the group of Chess-Base GUI fans because the best way for user and fans is that Chess-Base 8 and Fritz 6 is compatible to UCI. Programmers witch have interest can then played under 3 interesting GUIs with his programs ... the reason is ... UCI is free. Stefan Meyer Kahlen have no very big interest to work more in his WinBoard code or in his WinBoard adatper. I think also this is not important for this concept. More and more engines are compatible to UCI and I think not every engine must be for free available. UCI is at the moment the best concept. - Shredder 5.0 GUI - Chess Assistant 6.1 - Concept is free - a lot of possitibilitys - engine options without configuration file ... Best Frank
