To my way of thinking, Rolf is an interesting person and I would not oppose his using an account here to post his opinions freely. On the other hand, nomination of Rolf for moderator is like nomination of the grand dragon of the kkk for teaching seminars on sensitivity training. Yes, he would not oppose free opinions. However, I find his positions highly polarizing, and contrary. >Much of the banter here and correspondingly on RGCC seem to be flames over >(minor?) editorial issues steeped in a series of long-but-not-forgotten issues. >Much of this is now incomprehensible to someone just joining this communitee of >uniformly interesting and informed thinkers. Being an intolerant jerk myself, I would eliminate all accounts like AOL and hotmail from joining CCC. Fortunately, cooler minds have prevailed. >Inclusive tolerance of diverse opinions could not hurt in calming the waters it >seems...both here and in any political activity. Intoleration is a state that no tolerant man can tolerate. So let the intolerant BEWARE! Diverse opionions are great, unless they are just vile spew from whinging twits whose only purpose is to divide and cause trouble. >Again, Mr. Tueschen (or some >other person of similar bent) would be my choice for moderator. Not mine. But that's why they have elections. So that the majority might choose those who will reflect their wishes. >Who would you suggest and why? I would suggest someone who is reasonably sane and cares about the group. I would suggest someone who is calm and caring and willing to put out the time required to serve the group faithfully. I would suggest someone who wants a forum where people can gather to talk about a common interest. This is (in contrast to) someone who has no interest other than gaining attention to themselves. Other than someone who wants to hurt and to cause division and misery. Other than someone who wants to destroy rather than to build. I would suggest a good person over a net terrorist. Just my two cents. >Best regards, > >Bob Green Same from me. I have done some reading of your posts both here and on news:rec.games.chess.computers and am (quite frankly) astonished that you should think that Rolf would be a good moderator since you are obviously intelligent and interested in the subject at hand. But your view is no less valid than mine, and I respect your right to hold it.
