Averno is a free winboard engine. Current version is new, and haven't been released yet. It's a complete rewrite, from scratch. The last released version was pretty weak, but you can find it in Frank's or Arturo's or Thomas' pages, as well as many other places. Jul-1999. That's when I started writing it. First try was pathetic. First released version: 0.17. At 0.24 or so, there came a complete rewrite, and then it became stronger, but still too weak to compete. This new rewrite is several times faster, and the code is much better. I still haven't finished the book. When I finish it (and pondering), I'll release it. Feel free to ask as much as you want.
