Bob and I have history with some of these people going back to about 1995. It's
a long and boring history, many aspects of which I don't want to bother to
remember.

The group was founded to get away from Rolf and a few others. Ed, for instance,
was so bothered by Rolf that he sued him. I never knew exactly what that was
about, but the suit was thrown out on a technicality.

If you want to figure this out, go to www.google.com, search the usenet group
"rec.games.chess.computer", for posts containing "rolf tueschen pope", written
by "TUESCHEN.MEDIZIN_KUNSTFEHLER@t-online.de".

You can also try "rolf tueschen pope fachidiot" if you want to narrow it a bit.

Read through that for a bit and realize that there was a *lot* of it happening
for a *long* time. Maybe this will give you an idea of what was going on, and
maybe not.

I think that there were a lot of people trying to get rid of him by going
through his ISP.

These days I would just kill-file him if he bothered me, but that wasn't a
common option back then, so the group was constantly full of this stuff.

Rolf was banned here for bad reasons for perhaps a year (?). He's not banned
here now. As far as I know he has not posted here since 1997.

I hope that you and Sara will be able to understand things from each others'
point of view.

I don't like it either but I manage to get involved. When I started doing
computer chess, I made a conscious decision not to have any enemies. This
lasted for perhaps two years, but now I have a few. It's a big waste of time,
and I prefer to spend as little time dealing with this as possible.
