Hi all,
I am an organisor of the FSV-Tournaments. For our current and previous
tournaments visit:
URL: http://www.fsv.de/chess-server/
I like to invite you to our new tournament. From June or July 1998 we
want to play our "Summer1998-Tournament".
This shall be a tournament for noncommercial programs.
The tournament will held in Hamburg, Germany.
This will be a privat tournament and we will play this tournament in our
spare time. Therefore it will take some weeks.
Time to improve your porgram. Updates of your program for every round
are welcome.
You do not have to be here. Just send your program, opening lib's etc to
us by email and you will receive the games, log files etc. by email.
Not any costs for you will be involved, but not any price money as
well.
The idea of the tournament was given by Jens Silkeborg (author of
Dabbaba). He has suggested to play a tournament
without commercial programs.
Do not be afraid that your program is to weak (no opening book, no
pondering etc.). New programs/programs under construction are welcome.
We have got two P-120 and two P-200 MMX with the operating systems DOS,
Windows95 and Windows NT.
We will play a Swiss or a round robin tournament (depends on the number
of participants).
Time control will be 60 moves in 60 minutes or 60 seconds/move.
To make the performence of your program comparable, the ChessMachine
(SSDF-ELO 2200),
Mach III (SSDF-ELO 2000), myself (ELO 2000), Rebel 5 (SSDF-ELO 1800) and
the second organisor
of the tournament, he called Gunnar Schoenemann, (ELO 1600) will
participate as well.
It will be necessary that the programs support the auto232 autoplayer.
Because we are short on time and with the auto232 autoplayer will be in
the ability to play the tournament
with a larger amount of programs.
Auto232 support is very simple (you need just a couple of hours to make
it work).
Auto232 support (for DOS-programs):
a) Moves: From-Field To-Field Return e.g. "e2e4<Carriage Return>"
2b) New Game: "AN<Carriage Return>"
2f) Start Computation: "SP<Carriage Return>"
2h) Printer on/off "DR<Carriage Return>"
2i) Store-Game "SR<Carriage Return>"
"Filename<Carriage Return>"
This is my code to output moves for both white and black.
if (player == 'w') strcpy(txt1,""); else strcpy(txt1,"\t");
sprintf(txt2, " %c%c-%c%c", s[0],s[1],s[2],s[3]);
if (s[4] == '=') sprintf(txt3,"/%c",s[5]); else strcpy(txt3,"");
sprintf(txt,"%s%s%s\n",txt1,txt2,txt3);
fprintf(stdprn,txt);
fflush(stdprn);
Where the string "s[]" contains the long algebraic move in the format
"e7e8=Q". This code converts it to "e7e8/Q" <CR> and spits it to the
printer. I don't know if the tab is needed before black's move.
I poll for input every 50 mS. If I'm pondering and a move comes in, I
break pondering, make the move and echo it back to the printer in less
than a millisecond I would guess.
I think it would wait 50 mS after receiving a move to send it's move to
the printer.
