I know that Deeper Blue was seeing 200M nodes a second. I know that, based on calculation, Deep Fritz will be seeing 4M - 6M nodes a second. Well, I believe you can take the _worst_ C++ chess playing program in the world, and run it on a 4M - 6M node per second machine, and then run it on a 200M node per second machine, and you're going to get a significant increase in performance. Hsu and Murray were _NOT_ idiots. They did _NOT_ have an amateur chess program. This program was more refined, and had more money and resources put into it than Deep Fritz ever will. If you cannot see where this might make a difference, I am sorry. I have seen Bob try to explain it to you several times, and your obviously not going to listen, so I am not going to waste my breath here. > > >> >>It's publicity. Sorry. Bob does this enough for the entire board. :) But I stand 100% behind Bob in his beliefs about Deeper Blue. Deep Blue (and Deeper Blue) were made by some of the brightest minds of their time. Deep Blue wasn't something that was constructed by some idiots, who had no idea what they were doing. Exactly the opposite. Deep Blue (and Deeper Blue) were constructed by the same people who won _SEVERAL_ chess championships, before they ever started working on Deep Blue. Come on. Give Frans a $1,000,000 and perhaps he could construct his own chess playing powerhouse. But his program on an 8 way micro isn't going to cut it. Like I said, I don't care to have this arguement on CCC with you, or anyone. So post your "last word" and let it lie. I will not have this arguement with you, or anyone. Slate
