Subject: Thanks, But...

Hi Steve et al:
This one is to thanks you and everybody -not many, in any case- that
could think I could do well as moderator. I don't think the same. I
myself need a moderator all the time. Nevertheless the esential point is
that my thoughts about moderation are absolutely opposite to what I have
seen are prevailing and current here; so, I cannot do the job. In my
opinion the damage of receiving now and there an insult or reading
something obscene -besides and I don't care about obcenities- is far
less than the spirit that can -I insist, CAN- surge from the very
existence of moderators and rules, explicit or implicit. I cannot be
member of a council of moderators that eventually could expel a guy like
Chris Wittignton, even taking into consideration the insults or trashing
he can do at times against respected poeple here. I am ready to take
insults, trashing, sarcasm and whatever and then answer them or just
ignore them, but clearly I am not ready to send censor-kind of email, no
matter how soft they can be. I have became a known and even reputed
journalist in my country on the ground of strong, acid journalism and so
I am speritually unprepared to censor nobody, even in the most warm,
soft, delicate and gracious way. So, steve, put my out of the list and
good luck to the eventual fellows that will take the job. All of them
are nice people and although I am not ready to do his job, I am fully
prepared to support his efforts to keept this place as a nice one.
Fernando
