Subject: Shredder 3 Op. book - strange moves...

Author: Aloisio Ponti Lopes

From a recent game on my local chess server:

Shredder 3 Wb x GnuChess

1. d4 Nf6 2.c4 e5 3.g3!?

I could not believe it, and after the game ended I found it was really
Shredder's book move... incredible. Searched my databases, nothing! Searched the
web, and I found only:

[Event "?"]
[Site "Flint ch-MI class-C"]
[Date "1993.??.??"]
[White "Rodriguez, J"]
[Black "Lewis, C"]
[Round "2"]
[Result "0-1"]
[ECO "A51"]

1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e5 3. g3 exd4 4. Qxd4 Nc6 5. Qd1
Bb4+ 6. Bd2 Qe7 7. Nf3 Ne4 8. Bg2 Nxd2 9. Nbxd2

and

1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e5 3. g3 Bb4+ 4. Bd2 Be7 5. Bg2
d5 6. Nf3 O-O 7. O-O c6 8. Qc2 b6 9. b3
Nbd7 10. Bc3 Bb7 11. Nbd2 c5 12. dxc5 Nxc5 13. Qb2

Are there any more games with 3.g3!? ?

Why Shredder 3 doesn't have 3.dxe5 as the standard move? Are there any
"positional" reason to decline the Budapest Gambit ?
