That's right, there are already plenty of chess servers.
My first post did not come across.
I want to build a modest site like:
http://www.geocities.com/zodiamoon/amyan/applete.html
where people can play against a chess engine, nothing more, nothing less.
Amyan is a java engine but there's also a site where you can play
the WinBoard engine GnuChess in html I think.

There's also a site where you can play the
Chessbase engine Junior : http://kasparovchess.com
but you need to sign up in order to play.
