Hello, to build the ultimate dual chess system. here is what you would need as an example. I'm using the S2462SCSI as an example here and using the prices as found at www.comptechworld.nl Prices in Euro's: AMD Athlon MP 1400mhz Socket A (266FSB) 385 x 2 = 770 Corsair DDR 256MB PC 2100 Cas 2,5 Reg 163 x 4 = 652 2 cpu coolers 18 x 2 = 36 60 GB U100 harddrive 254 x 1 = 254 HDD cooler (definitely needed for egtb) 31 x 1 = 31 Tyan S2462 Thunder K7 Dual AMD 760MP 839 x 1 = 839 19 inch Iiyama HA901D 3 jaar on-site garantuee = 667 Sony 16x48x DVD IDE 81 x 1 = 81 Logitech cordless desktop OPTICAL! (mouse+keyboard) = 145 sony diskdrive 1.44 floppy = 20 Addtronics 7890A server case (bit bigger than bigtwr) = 145 PSU 460 watts = 208 total: 3848 euro. Remove 9% and you have dollars. Who was talking about 1500us$? Of course i can get the mainboard for under 1500us$. If you redenate like some dudes did below in some threads, who claim it's us$1500, then i can even get it cheaper. I can get any dual AMd for under 20 dollar even if i just get the 1.44 diskdrive which i need for it! It's nonsense to only talk about a part of the price without listing all basic components. Of course you're not going to use a 2 gigabyte harddisk in such a system. Of course you're not going to work with a 1985 produced mouse that still needs a comport at a complete and brand new system. Of course you don't go work with a $5 keyboard which you can throw away tomorrow. I still didn't put in into this system - a fast 3d graphics card. The build in ATI-rage is hell slow card. - a sound card - software Vincent
