Is the chess interface of http://www.worldchessnetwork.com/ spyware ? In the interface click Help > Software version / System info and you get a list with data about your hardware. Their privacy policy says they register players' I.P. and they have special software to detect chess computer users. I do get a lot of spam since I signed up and maybe it's no coincidence.
