Concerning Uhura. I was 14. We played soccer on the streets. When it was Star-Trek time, the streets in germany were empty and we all were in sitting behind the screen, watching spock beating the ship-computer in 3d-chess and, even more astonishing, captain kirk beat spock !!! He checkmated Spock !! But how ? Spock plays without emotions and is more intelligent... And if spock beats the ship-computer.... Ok - Uhura was in our dreams. But also all the other nice partner of Captain Kirk. And there was at least ONE in each episode. And sometimes Uhura sings !! And the episode where she kisses kirk ! I can understand that sid samole said to his workers: lets invent a chess computer. We were also very inspirated by the whole thing..
