Dan Any clue on how to link to the libraries would be appreciated. I compiled 3.0.1 in a seperate directory to maintain the original version as default, having screwed up before. Specifying --prefix=<directory path> in configure. It compiles the C parts of my program but not C++, giving errors about ios::nocreate not being part of the std_ios functions. Looked in the install instructions, but either did not find the answer or could not understand it. Given my executables are 25-30% in Linux, 7% would be very welcomed. (I use Mandrake 8.0). Frank
