Cute, Fernando.
From a personal perspective, I enjoy your ramblings, and I
certainly do not want stifle your (any anyone else's creativity),
but for the sake of the CCC, I think that the post above is
misplaced (and this is coming from a VERY liberal member of the
FFG [former founders group] who was willing to put up with an
astounding amount of what others saw as abuse.)

I believe in a very loose interpretation of the membership
application which we all signed to become CCC members, and that
included agreeing to post messages that:

"Are, within reason, on the topic of computer chess"

Your initial repartee in an earlier post with Thorsten about
Star Trek and such was fine, because it was a byproduct of
the original computer chess conversation and could have ended
at that point, or been thrown in to future postings as a joke
or continued in email, but this post above indicates that you
were "testing the waters" to see the reaction or see how far
you could go. I understand that you managed a question at the
end but that appeared to be more of an afterthought than the
crux of the communication especially in light of the subject
title.

In my opinion, posts dealing with primarily Star Trek dialog
do not belong in CCC for two reasons:
One:
Because the CCC takes up a fair amount of space on our server,
and the extra expense of supporting lines of conversation on
subjects other than computer chess or chess in general is not
what we anticipated when we agreed to devote part of our web site
to this project.

Two:
Because, when we all signed up, we agreed that we would, when
posting, stay, "within reason, on the topic of computer chess."

I happened to have disagreed with Dave when he mentioned that
your earlier response to Thorsten was out of bounds, because,
to me it was no big deal. However, this post seems to be an
attempt to make an issue of what Dave said and that is not really
necessary ESPECIALLY in light of the fact that Dave was not
acting as a moderator.

It is agreed, I believe, that we have come here to read about
and/or discuss computer chess. If discussions on computer chess
create laughter, or arguments, or side discussions, or anecdotes,
that's fine with me, but PLEASE let's at least try to stay somewhere
in the general range of computer chess.
