Ed, >>With Win 2K I don't think I will be able to run Rebel. > >Century 3 runs fine under Win 2000. Oops - sorry my mistake. I was assuming that if it didn't work under NT it wouldn't work under W2K - my apologies. >It practically means Rebel never will see the Windows day-light. That's a great pity. DOS is nearly dead and I assume that this will kill the Rebel engine in the not too distant future, as the sales will not justify the development. >Still there is *little* hope as recently somebody offered to do the porting >job for me using my sources. If the job can be done without much efforts from >my side it will be done but somehow I doubt this is the case. I hope it can happen. From my point of view you wouldn't need all the bells and whistles of Fritz et al - just a basic but solid interface. If it had all of the features of Palm Tiger I'd be more than happy. Have you looked at C++ Builder or Delphi (www.borland.com)? They can create complex apps quickly e.g. Chess Assistant is written in Delphi. >I can't do multiple jobs in the 24 hours that are given to me but I can keep >my company running and so now and then spend my time to improve Rebel. It is >the result of the decission taken a few years ago to extend my business first >with Chess Tiger and now with Gandalf. Sure - please don't take my words as an attack or criticism - I'm a fan of Rebel. I'd just like to be able to use Rebel as a native Windows app and I'm sure I'm not alone. >I know many people dislike DOS but there are still a bunch of people left who >don't care and for them the latest Rebel will be available soon. My only fear is that the pool of DOS tolerators is shrinking. I just hope that you don't come to the stage where the sales don't justify the development. Regards, Steve Maughan
