You are rignt that 32... Qa1+ seems to lose also, but I did not like that in the 32... Rh8 variation black has no play whatsoever for a long time. Backtracking I quickly realised that I was even better than I thought in the game. [D]r3r1k1/4p3/ppp3pB/q3p3/2pP1P2/1bN3Q1/1R4P1/6K1 b - - 0 31 Black has to play 31... Kh7. And after 32. f5 Rg8 33. Qh4 I believe black has to fight to draw the game. [D]r5r1/4p2k/ppp3pB/q3pP2/2pP3Q/1bN5/1R4P1/6K1 b - - 0 33 This is a good one. Black must avoid 33... gxf5 and it seems only 33... Rh8 holds the balance. And then white has a plethora of tries, I can't find a winning variation. For example 34. Bg7+ Kxg7 35. Qxe7+ ... [D]r6r/4Q1k1/ppp3p1/q3pP2/2pP4/1bN5/1R4P1/6K1 b - - 0 35 35...Kg8/h6 and black seems to hold on by a thread. Or 34. Bc1+ Kg8 35. Qxe7 [D]r5k1/4Q2r/ppp3p1/q3pP2/2pP4/1bN5/1R4P1/2B3K1 w - - 0 36 Rh7 and black seems to draw by a fraction of an inch again. When backtracking I came to the conclusion that in: [D]r3r1k1/4p2p/ppp3PB/q3p3/2pP1P2/1bN5/1R4P1/4Q1K1 b - - 0 30 Black must avoid 30... hxg6, that should be a hard one. I have a hunch that 30... Kh8 might be the best move, avoiding the opening of the king position. MvH Dan Andersson
